Description:

This workshop covers the basics and beyond of free motion machine quilting on you domestic sewing machine plus includes a simple technique of quilt-as-you-go to put the quilt together. All work will be done on the sewing machine.

Instructor: Linda Palaisy

Participant Level: Beginner to Experienced

Supply Fee: None

Supply List and Homework:

Bring material to make fabric sandwiches.  The size of the sandwich is not important, but you want to have pieces that can be joined during the class to make a small quilt or a cat mat or just a practice piece.  One of the techniques included in this class is a method for doing “quilt-as-you-go”.

So, for example, you could:

  • ·         cut 5" or 6” strips of top material, batting & backing - any length
  • ·         Or cut blocks, about 10 inches square or larger
  • ·         Or use existing blocks from an abandoned project.
  • ·         Or piece some strips or blocks from your stash bag.

Whatever you bring for the top, make sure you have batting & backing to match it.  Don’t sew any of the blocks or strips together before the class.

Besides the fabric, you’ll need your sewing machine, thread, rotary cutter and general sewing kit.  Irons will be supplied by the Guild

Spaces: min 6 / max 16
