General information for workshops :
There are many exciting workshops offered each year for every level of quilter from beginner to advanced. These are announced in the newsletters and at the meetings, where you can see samples. It’s a great opportunity to learn all kinds of new techniques plus have the fun of getting to know other guild members in a more relaxed setting.
Non-members who wish to participate in OVQG workshops will be charged the non-member workshop fee (indicated in parentheses in the newsletter following the member fee).

Description:
This delightful wall hanging is a variation of the New York Beauty block but with a real twist. In class you will learn a very easy paper piecing method and the curved piecing goes smoothly as the pattern is very well drafted. Choose rainbow colors on a black background as in the sample, or put your own personal stamp on it with colors of your choice.

These beautiful graphic symbols lend themselves wonderfully to quilting as either applique or quilting designs. With about 200 basic designs and over 4,000 variations the problem is choosing from this wonderful array. Description:
Seminole patchwork of the Florida Seminole Indians is well-known and much admired.Seminole patchwork inspired strip piecing and provides excellent opportunity to master machine piecing techniques. Following a quilt-as-you-go approach, you will design and construct a Seminole Sampler panel and explore the many possibilities offered by this are form. The scale of the piece is your choice. Sunday October 31, Lily Lam also will be doing a class at Maki House on Shibori, a traditional Japanese technique of resist mark-making with needles and thread for later dyeing. This class is not an OVQG workshop, however it is being organized by Vikki Zulpo for ArtWear.
Its cost is $50, and there is a kit fee of $20 or less. If you are interested in this class, please see Vikki Zulpo for details, or email her at vikkizulpo@tzartwearables.com.
Environmentally Friendly Chevron-Patterned Tote Bags, Fleece-lined Tea Cosies, Cushions, Shoe Bags or Wine Totes

Description: Workshop participants will learn a technique to piece patchwork in a chevron pattern to make tote bags, tea cosies, cushion covers, shoe bags or wine totes out of discontinued upholstery fabric. It is suitable for novice quilters; experienced quilters will learn how to custom-design a fleece-lined tea cosy to fit a particular tea pot. Class fee includes kit of decorative upholstery fabric, base fabric, fleece to line tea cosies and cording for wine totes.
Workshop Policy:
- Locations vary and are listed separately for each workshop
- Payment, by cash or cheque, is required to reserve your
spot in the class.
- The cost is set up to reflect the cost of the teacher and venue for a minimum number of students. Any profit is put towards reducing the fees for more expensive classes.
- Non-members may take a workshop for an additional fee,
space permitting.
- The class fee is non refundable. A refund is given only if the class is cancelled.
- Registration is available at meetings, by phone or email. Registration by phone or email is only complete upon payment by the beginning of the next meeting. Because it is difficult to fill workshops at times, the workshop coordinators reserve the right to accept registration as soon as the class is finalized.
- Registration is closed when the class fills, or on a specified date,for out of town teacher workshops. You will be notified a week before the class, if the class is not being held.
