How to Register

Workshops are available to guild members and to non-members (at the non-member rate).

To register for a workshop:

  • click on the blue "Register" button for the workshop in the calendar above, or
  • email the Workshops Coordinator and include your name, phone number, and the name of each workshop you wish to attend.

If there are no spaces left in a workshop you wish to attend, please click the "Join waitlist" button to be added to the workshop's waiting list.

IMPORTANT: Your registration is not complete until you have submitted all required fees.

  • Payment is due within one week of registration. If you do not pay within this time, your space may be given to someone on the waiting list.
  • A scheduled workshop will be held only if the minimum number of paid registrants has been reached 1-3 weeks ahead of the class date. (The minimum number of registrants required, and the maximum number of spaces available, are listed in the workshop description.)

How to Submit Payment

Choose one of the methods listed below.

Pay online using PayPal

  • Log in to your account on the OVQG website using your email and password.

Bank e-transfer or Interac transfer

Cheque

  • Make it out to OVQG. Write the invoice number(s) for the workshop(s) on the front of the cheque so we can match it to your registration(s).
  • Bring your cheque to a monthly meeting, or mail it to this address. If mailing, allow sufficient time for your cheque to be received before the workshop.

REMINDER: PAYMENT IS DUE WITHIN 7 DAYS OF REGISTRATION

Workshop Cancellation Policy

A scheduled workshop will be cancelled if an insufficient number of participants have registered and paid 14 days prior to the workshop date. On rare occasions a workshop may be cancelled because the instructor is unable to present the workshop.

In either case, participants will be notified by phone or email and issued a refund. Refunds can be made via PayPal or mailed to you upon request.

Workshop Refund Policy

The OVQG does not issue refunds for workshop fees, unless the class was cancelled by OVQG or the instructor.

Note: In exceptional circumstances (such as a death or serious illness requiring a medical note or hospital visit), the workshops coordinator has the discretion to issue a refund.

Preparing for Your Workshop

To get the most out of your workshop, please read the supply list carefully to ensure you are fully prepared.

Each supply list describes:

  • the workshop date and time,
  • the workshop venue,
  • supply or kit fees (where applicable),
  • additional supplies you need to bring,
  • any preparation required before the class starts, and
  • the instructor's contact information.

To get the supply list for your workshop:

  • find your workshop in the calendar above and click the "Show details" link, or
  • email the workshop coordinator and request the supply list.

Attending a Workshop on Zoom

Please ensure that you have installed and tested the Zoom application on your device (i.e. computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone) several days before the workshop.

  • The best way to do this is find a couple of friends with Zoom and set up a chat session so you can ensure your equipment is working properly.

  • The guild's Zoom Events Help page contains helpful information for people who are new to Zoom, including how to contact the OVQG's Zoom Team if you need assistance.

Other tips to improve your experience:

  • Place your device in your sewing room where you can clearly see the instructor on screen, and where you can show them your work during the day.

  • Be sure to turn off the camera on your device if you move it from one location to another during class, as this might be distracting to others in the class.

  • Also, be sure to turn off your microphone if there is distracting noise at your location, such as a dog barking to go out.
